ConVal’s Daniel Curran came up short once again to Newport’s Stephen Nix, but his strong day at the Meet of Champions qualified him for the New Englands next week in Providence, Rhode Island.

Daniel pinned Manchester Central’s Isaac Arakhanov and then got a 3-1 win over Nashua North’s John Sweeney before losing to Nix in the semifinals of the 170-lb. division. Daniel would then avenge his divisional meet loss to Goffstown’s Ian Routhier with a 4-0 win, and beat Jake Ricca of Milford 2-1 to wrap up third.

He’ll be the first ConVal wrestler to make New Englands since Chad Brouillet (2011).

Eric Wall came up just short of the medal round, pinning Jake Hall of Bedford, losing to Jacob Bue of Bishop Guertin, pinning Matt Cooney of Winnacunnet and losing to Tyler Mackieman of Pinkerton.

Joshua Curran beat Garrett Macedonia of Plymouth 9-2 before being eliminated from medal contention.
