An investigation is ongoing in Antrim following a reported assault on an elderly man on Dec. 12. At 8:56 that morning, a resident told police he went downstairs and found his 84 year-old father, who had been handcuffed naked, assaulted, and injured. Police secured the scene and the resident refused hospital treatment at the time. Antrim police Lt. Brian Lord said the investigation was ongoing as of Friday, and there wasn’t much he could publicly share but that it appears to have been an isolated incident with no threat to the public.

Trends of Fashion salon owner Paula Brissette said that the salon staff and police are still looking for tips following a break-in to the Main Street business that occurred in the days leading up to Jan. 5, when the salon posted on Facebook that they believed their building had been broken into. “The subject kicked in the back utility door and inside doors and rummages[sic] thru the salon,” the post read, and that the business’s safe was stolen. The crime likely occurred on Jan. 3 or 4, according to the post, but Brissette said that any observations of suspicious activity over that previous weekend could be useful.

Officer John Blake said police were notified of the break-in on the morning of Jan. 6 and were investigating, although he was unable to confirm how the building had been entered or the details of the theft. Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity is encouraged to notify the Antrim police at 588-4103.
