Jaffrey police officer Zachary Lazzaro was named the department’s 2022 Officer of the Year.

The award is presented to the officer, detective or sergeant who has best represented the organization over the course of the year and has shown professionalism, dedication and productivity.

Lazarro has been with the department for two years, and in his time on the force has demonstrated those values, Chief Todd Muilenberg said.

“He’s been representing us very well this year. He has a good, friendly, relaxed personality, and he’s been performing both his proactive and reactive duties well. He’s touching every aspect of his patrol responsibilities,” Muilenberg said.

Muilenberg said Lazzaro is very well-liked by the residents, and during community events, makes a point to mingle and have conversations with children and families, and despite his role as a traffic patrol officer, has never received a complaint from a community member.

“All of which tells me he’s interacting well with the people he deals with,” Muilenberg said.

Lazarro received the award from Town Manager Jon Frederick.
