David Godine to share stories at Jaffrey Civic Center

The Jaffrey Civic Center will host publisher David Godine on Friday, May 2 at 5 p.m. as part of its “Stories to Share” series. The event will take place at the Civic Center, 40 Main St., Jaffrey.

Godine, founder of the publishing company that bears his name, was born in Cambridge and educated at Roxbury Latin School, Dartmouth College and Harvard University. After Army service and an apprenticeship in Northampton, he opened a letterpress printing shop in a Brookline cow barn. His company, long based in Jaffrey, has published poetry, children’s books, fiction and more for over 50 years.

In his talk, Godine will highlight notable works by or about northern New England writers. Series founder Joe Steinfield will moderate.
