The Jaffrey Woman’s Club recognized three Jaffrey Grade School fifth-graders for their winning essays in the annual Suzanne Crossley Women’s History Essay Contest.
First place went to Abby Bonzagni, who wrote about U.S. Sen. Tammy Duckworth. Eileen Eddy took second for her essay on Helen Keller, and Isabella Nascimento placed third with her piece on Sacagawea.
The contest, held in honor of Women’s History Month, asked students to write about a woman they admire and why. The club’s education committee selected the winners, who received cash prizes and read their essays at the club’s May annual meeting.
The Jaffrey Woman’s Club supports civic, cultural and charitable initiatives in the community. Membership is open to Monadnock region women 18 and older. For information, visit jaffreywomansclub.org, find the club on Facebook or email jaffreywomansclub@gmail.com.
