A Jaffrey couple has been charged in the murder of Jonathan Amerault.

Police arrested Armando Barron, 30, of Jaffrey on Friday morning and charged him with capital murder for allegedly shooting and killing Amerault while engaged in committing a kidnapping, according to a press release issued by the New Hampshire attorney general’s office on Friday. According to the release, Armando Barron allegedly lured Amerault to Annette Wayside Park in Rindge sometime during the overnight hours between Saturday, Sept. 19 and Sunday, Sept. 20.

Amerault, 25, was a resident of Keene and employee of Jaffrey’s Teleflex. He was reported missing on Monday, after he failed to show up for work, and family and friends reported he had last been in contact on Saturday evening. His body was discovered on Tuesday in Coos County, in the area of Atkinson and Gilmanton Academy Grant, an unincorporated township near the Maine border about 220 miles away from Rindge.

His autopsy, conducted by New Hampshire Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Jennie V. Duval on Thursday, revealed that the cause of death was a gunshot to the head, and the manner of death is homicide.

On Thursday, police also arrested Armando Barron’s wife, Britany Barron, age 31, of Jaffrey, and charged her with three counts of falsifying physical evidence in connection with Jonathan Amerault’s murder for allegedly altering, destroying, concealing, or removing items of physical evidence to impede the investigation.

Pursuant to RSA 630:1, I(b) a person is guilty of capital murder if he knowingly causes the death of another before, after, while engaged in the commission of, or while attempting to commit kidnapping as that offense is defined in RSA 633:1.
