Jaffrey is seeking a new recreation director as Renee Sangermano, who has held the position for the past six years, is moving on to a new position.

Sangermano came to Jaffrey from Rindge’s recreation program, where she served as the program assistant and sports coordinator until June of 2015, when she was hired to run Jaffrey’s recreation program.

Sangermano submitted her resignation with the town on March 24, to move to a new position in a field outside of municipal recreation, and served her last day on April 7.

“She has been very passionate about the field of recreation,” Jaffrey Town Manager Jon Frederick said Wednesday.

In her time at the Jaffrey Recreation Department, Sangermano has spearheaded a campaign to update the playground equipment at the Humiston Field playground. Under her direction, the town has completed the first phase of replacing the climbing structures, slides and swings, and Sangermano has been continuing fundraising efforts for the next stage, which includes adding structures for younger children.

She’s also been working to help connect the downtown with access to community trails, including the town’s Rail Trail, through trails that connect to Community Field.

“She really puts her heart and soul into the job,” Frederick said.

Sangermano also created the Youth Advisory Committee, made up of community teens who have helped develop programming and trips for the department and to give youth a voice in their community, as well as providing community service opportunities.

Jaffrey is currently accepting applications for the position. The position is full-time and has a pay scale of between $50,855 and $66,342, based upon experience. The Recreation Director is responsible for the town’s recreational programs and parks and facilities, and develops long-term improvement plans for the parks, facilities and programs.

The preferred candidate has a Bachelor’s Degree related to recreation management and three years of experience, or matching education or experience. For those interested in the position, contact Town Manager Jon Frederick with a resume and cover letter at jfrederick@townofjaffrey.com by 4:30 p.m. on April  21.
