LETTER: Why would women vote for Trump and Vance?

Women of the Monadnock region, why would you vote for Donald Trump and J.D. Vance?

Would you vote for any other candidate who has bragged about his role in restricting your right to choose if, how, and when to have a child and as a result has made it more difficult for you to receive health care?

Would you vote for any other candidate who considers you less significant because you have chosen not to have children or are not able to have them? Who thinks you should stay in your marriage even when your husband beats you and threatens to kill you and your children? Who thinks it’s OK for that man to own a gun?

Would you vote for any other candidate who hates the idea of a powerful woman so much that he’s still prosecuting the false case against the woman who ran against him for president eight years ago? Who hates women in general so much that he has been found liable for sexually assaulting a woman?

Would you vote for any other candidate who wants to take you back to the 1950s, when working women either held low-paying blue-collar jobs or were restricted to one of three white-collar professions: secretary, teacher or nurse? When the mythological ideal American family included a wife who was dependent on her husband’s income and goodwill and who couldn’t get a car loan in her own name, even if she worked full-time?

Would you vote for any other candidate who entered the stage at a national convention backed by the song “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World”?

If not, vote for a ticket that respects women and will fight for their rights. Vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.
