On Friday, March 1, at 5 p.m., the Jaffrey Civic Center, 40 Main St., will present the sixth speaker in this season’s “Stories to Share” series.

Kate McNally, host of “The Folk Show” on New Hampshire Public Radio, will present “Folk Music, Community, and Good Fortune.” Her radio career began as a volunteer DJ at Keene State College’s student-run station, WKNH. She went on to host a Sunday afternoon folk music program, “Fiddlesticks,” on the station for six years.

After graduating in 1986, Kate joined WKNE 1290 in Keene, where she worked as a production coordinator, copywriter, full-time program director and the morning drive personality. In 1995, she became the host of “The Folk Show,” which airs Sunday evenings from 7 to 10 p.m. on New Hampshire Public Radio.

McNally grew up on Hank Williams, Eddy Arnold and The Kingston Trio, and she has visited on air with artists that include Arlo Guthrie, Tom Rush, Richie Havens and Bela Fleck. In addition to her radio program, she has long had a separate career in public service.

“I feel a kind of responsibility and indebtedness to promoting a healthy community,” she stated. She calls herself “the luckiest radio host in the world.”

“Stories to Share” founder Joe Steinfield will serve as moderator for the talk. The program is free, but to help support this event and others like it, donations are appreciated. The program will be available as an in-person event at the Jaffrey Civic Center as well as via YouTube live.
