LR3 Development of Peterborough won a Cornerstone Award from the New Hampshire HomeBuilders Association for Home of the Year in the remodel category.

LR3 and owner Paul LaRoche won the award for a home they recently finished on Dublin Lake. The property originally featured a turn-of-the-century bungalow and several outbuildings dating back to the 1800s. LR3 collaborated with the new homeowner to preserve the estate's original footprint and shell while achieving a home that blends eclectic whimsy with modern design.

The exterior features rustic red board-and-batten siding, honeyed cedar shakes and a steel roof. An outbuilding has been rebuilt into a yoga and exercise studio with radiant heating, a cork floor and a steam sauna. The former barn has been renovated into a custom guest house with a private kitchen, bedroom and full bath. An outdoor shower and separate bathroom entrance provide guests returning from a day of lakeside activities with a place to rinse off and change without disturbing others.

The garage was transformed into a soundproofed room that doubles as a recording studio and library.

Details include soapstone kitchen counters, a screened-in porch, a wet bar, a special room for the client’s cat, a pantry, a “hidden” passage to the above-garage guest suite, accessibility ramps in the garage, motion lights throughout and custom Marvin windows that allow natural light in.

The staircase includes custom steel railings and oak flooring. Upstairs, the six rooms and three bathrooms each have a designated theme, color schemes and wallpaper.

LR3 is a client of Halliday Group Real Estate in Peterborough.
