Conant High School hosted the Monadnock Invitational on Saturday, giving local track and field athletes a chance to up their game heading into Saturday’s divisional meets.

After Tuesday night’s seeding meeting, the final qualifiers for the state meets will emerge, but here’s how athletes from Wilton-Lyndeborough, ConVal and Conant did on Saturday.

Conant freshman twins Abby and Haylie Drew went 1-2 in the long jump; Haylie cleared 15’5”, while Abby broke the school record with a whopping 16’11”. Abby also took second in the 100M dash (13.45) and Haylie was second in the 200M (27.36).

Conant’s Taylor Banish won the pole vault, making it up and over an eight-foot height. She also won the javelin toss at 81’.

ConVal’s dual Veverkas had a good day; Liam won the boys’ 3200M run, while sister Clare won both the girls’ 800M and 1600M. In the 800M, Clare was followed by teammates Lucy Freeman (2nd) and Rachel Hurley (3rd), with Conant’s Isabella Mormando in fourth.

Mormando won the 3200M (which Clare Veverka chose not to run) in 13:23.95; Wilton-Lyndeborough’s Mackenzie Hayden was in second at 13:37.47.

ConVal’s Rhiannon Bell won the shot put with a throw of 32’9”. She was also fourth in the discus, with teammate Savanna Hall in second.

ConVal’s Maddy Garland was a split second out of the lead in the 400M; she finished second in 1:03.93 after Hopkinton’s Megan Ellsworth passed her down the stretch and won in 1:03.10. Wilton-Lyndeborough’s Katie Hanisch shaved 1.5 seconds off her previous best, finishing third in 1:05.69.

ConVal’s Palmer Timmons was second in both the 200M and 400M dash.

ConVal’s Evan Coyne was second in the 800M, with teammate Finn Wegmueller in third.

Sean Boggis of ConVal cleaned up in the field events, winning the long jump (19’2”) and the javelin throw (130’).

Wilton-Lyndeborough’s Sam Bailey won the discus throw (121’2”) and took third in the javelin throw and fourth in the shot put.

ConVal’s Ryan Murray was second in shot put and discus.
