Artist Ludmila Gayvoronsky of Newport will exhibit her work, “Enchanted World,” at the Hancock Town Library, 25 Main St., Oct.14 through Nov. 22.

There will be a reception Saturday, Oct. 21, from 4 to 6 p.m.

Originally from Moscow, Gayvoronsky came to the United States in 1980. She graduated from Sourikow’s Art Academy in Moscow, and became a member of GorkomKultury, an organization of nonconformist artists, participating in exhibitions in Moscow and in Austria. After coming to America, she first lived in Brooklyn for 12 years, and then landed in Newport. She taught fine art at Lebanon College for almost 20 years, while conducting local workshops.

Her paintings -- which often fuse abstraction with realism, connected by an emotion or image -- don’t fall into one specific style or genre. They often feature secret symbols, hidden images, coded autobiographical references and allegorical allusions.

Gayvoronsky was a member of American Portrait Society, Metropolitan Portrait Society, associate member of American Watercolor Society, a member of the New Hampshire Art Association and current member of the Monadnock Area Artists Association and Center for the Arts.

Exhibits can be viewed in the Daniels Room of the Hancock Library during regular library hours of Monday and Wednesday 2 to 6 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call the library at 603-525-4411 before visiting to ensure no special events are scheduled at that time.
