Lug Nuts, Tin Caps, Fisher Cats in action

The ConVal Tin Caps defeated the ConVal Fisher Cats 11-7 in Cal Ripken Minors League play on last Friday in Greenfield.

The Tin Caps went into the final inning trailing 7-6. Beau Olesky capped a 5-run rally with a 2 –run home run to left field. Several walks and a hit by Brady Carpentiere accounted for the other runs. Avery Steere started for the Tin Caps and let in two runs before settling down and striking out two and forcing a ground out to second to leave the bases loaded. Zach Pease pitched the second inning. Thanks to the hustle of Pease and his battery mate Sylas Olesky, all three outs that inning came on runners trying to score on passed balls. Sylas Olesky. Carpentiere came in in relief in the 3rd inning with the bases loaded. He struck out both bases he faced. Carpentiere came back in the next inning and struck out the side to preserve the Tin Caps lead.

The ConVal Lugnuts defeated the ConVal Tin Caps 12-4 in Cal Ripken Minor League playTuesday in Hancock.

Cody Seigel, Kiernan King, and Kevin Simmons pitched for the Lugnuts. Seigel and King combined for 10 strikeouts in their 4 innings of work. Simmons pitched the last inning striking out the last hitter to end the game. Matt Pimental played a strong game at 3rd base.

The Lugnuts scored 4 runs in the 4th and 4 runs in the 5th. Leading the way for the Lugnuts offense was Nate and Matt Pimental and Simmons who each scored 2 runs against strong pitching by the Tin Caps. Stephen Gnibus, Ryan Seaver, Justin Borges, and Julianna O’Mahony also scored for the Lugnuts.

The Tin Caps young pitching staff continues to improve. Brady Carpentiere started for the Tin Caps and struck out five over 3 innings. He was helped by great defense at first by Brodie Desmarais and a great play at second by Avery Steere. Steere also drove in one of his team’s run with a double in the fourth inning. Caprentiere was relieved by Nolan Darowski in the fourth who settled down after several walks and struck out the final two batters of the inning. Desmarais pitched the fifth inning and battled back to get the final three batters in order. Owen Selby was a steady presence in the infield .

Mets Take Two

Carter Rousseau and Bennett Saxe combined to allow only 4 hits as the Mets beat the Rockhounds 14-4 in Con Val Cal Ripken Minors action. At the plate Saxe went 3 for 3 including a 3 run home run. Garret Rousseau, David Murphy and Avery Pelletier each had one hit.

Saxe and Carter Rousseau allowed only 2 hits as the Mets beat the Tin Caps 12-1. Bennett Saxe, Avery Pelletier and David Murphy each had two hits. Garret Rousseau, Christian Hall and Carter Rousseau had one hit each.
