A Jaffrey man found deceased in his vehicle early on Sunday morning appears to have died from a medical issue, according to Jaffrey police.
While on patrol in the Jaffrey downtown in the early hours of Sunday morning at about 12:45 a.m., Jaffrey Patrolman Joseph Hileman saw a vehicle that appeared to have crashed into the former Lab ‘N’ Lager building on Stratton Road, at the Main Street intersection.
According to police, Hileman approached the vehicle and saw the driver, identified as Christopher Sasner, 46, of Jaffrey, in the driver’s seat, slouched over and unresponsive. Sasner was the only person in the vehicle.
Jaffrey Police Officer Brianna Rogers responded to assist, and Sasner was removed from the vehicle and police officers started to perform CPR until the Jaffrey Fire Department and the Jaffrey-Rindge Memorial Ambulance arrived and took over patient care and transported him to Monadnock Community Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
According to Police Administrative Assistant Denise Chatel, the crash remains under investigation, but it appears Sasner had a medical issue while driving, and died of the medical issue, not as a result of the crash.
Sasner’s vehicle was towed from the scene. There was no damage to the vehicle and no visible damage to the Lab ‘N’ Lager vehicle.
