Mansfield Public Library, 5 Main St. in Temple, will be hosting Monday Matinees at 1 p.m. the second Monday of every month, beginning March 13.
Seniors and other adults are invited to gather in the reference room for light refreshments and a movie. The film for March 13 will be “Some Like It Hot,” the 1959 movie starring Marilyn Monroe, Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis.
The library will host a skywatch with members of the New Hampshire Astronomical Society on Thursday, March 16, at 7 p.m. at Temple Elementary School. All ages are welcome and telescopes and binoculars will be provided.
A skywatch is a gathering of amateur astronomers with a focus on outreach and education for a private group or for the public at large, and is intended to be beginner-friendly. At a skywatch, the NHAS's focus is on giving the group the most-enjoyable and educational experience possible.
People attending the skywatch should watch their step, being particularly careful of wires on the ground. They should park so their headlights and backup lights won’t interfere with the observers.
Smoking is not allowed, and people should use red flashlights only or cover the lens of a regular flashlight with red plastic or taillight repair tape. Flash photography is not allowed.
To stay warm, participants should bring about twice as much warm clothing as they think they will need.
