The Dublin Community Center, 1123 Main St., will feature classical paintings by Caleb Massin of Fitzwilliam during March, and the center will host an opening reception Friday, March 8, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Having studied art at the Putney School, Bard College at Simon's Rock, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and the Hoffberger School of Painting at the Maryland College of Art, Massin worked several years in the film industry as a scenic artist. He worked on the films “Twelve Years a Slave” and “Beautiful Creatures” and the television shows “Prison Break,” “Good Guys” and “Dallas.” He moved back to New Hampshire in 2013 and began to explore an interest in classical painting at the Pulido Studio in Hancock.

Massin runs Massin Painters, a commercial plastering and painting business, as well as taking private portrait commissions. In Massin's words, "The work in the show reflects my lifelong desire to create beauty. I have been deeply influenced by my mentors in Classicism, Numael and Shirley Pulido, and motivated by a deep reverence for the Old Masters. Drawing has always come naturally to me, even as a child, and this ability has created the foundation for all my different styles, from abstract expressionism through my work in the film industry as a scenic artist and muralist and presently to Classical Realism."

Massin's works will be on display and available for purchase throughout March during open hours or by appointment. Send email to info@dublincommunitycenter.org for information or to schedule an appointment.
