Letter: Jaffrey-Rindge schools deserve support

Support the Rindge and Jaffrey public schools on March 28 by coming out to vote in favor of the school budget and the support staff contract.

Public schools are the backbone of our communities, the places where our young are educated, where our people gather for voting, athletics and community activity. They are also the main attraction for many families choosing where to live.

In Rindge and Jaffrey, we are fortunate to have a school district where education is high in quality, the cost is among the lowest in the state and the diverse opportunities for athletics and clubs and activities are excellent. In many ways, Jaffrey-Rindge hits the jackpot when it comes to offering a high-quality education.

But if we want to keep things this way, it’s important to keep supporting our schools by approving our school budgets, by approving staff employment contracts and by continuing to maintain, repair and improve our aging buildings. Without this support, we can’t hope to maintain a high quality of education.

If you go to education.nh.gov and search for "financial reports," you will find that the Jaffrey-Rindge cost per pupil is among the lowest in the state, $1,635 lower than the state average. Yet we continue to provide a great education, complemented by excellent sports, clubs and activities. We have a lot to be thankful for in our local schools, but they need and deserve our support on election day.
