Letter: Why the lack of communication about Peterborough Recreation Director vacancy?

Published: 09-12-2024 12:35 PM

I am troubled by the lack of communication and transparency regarding the departure of the Peterborough recreation director. It has been over a month since their departure, yet I have seen no official announcement or explanation from the town.

Why wasn’t the job posted sooner to ensure a smooth transition and continuity of services? And why has there been no effort to advertise the position in the local newspaper, where many residents may not be aware of the vacancy? After Google searching it myself, I only found the job posting listed on the Peterborough town website and nhrpa.com, which seems inadequate in reaching the widest audience and performing due diligence during the hiring process.

Town officials have a chance to appoint a qualified and driven individual to revitalize our underperforming Recreation Department. I hope they put in the time and effort to make the most of this opportunity.
