Monadnock Area Transitional Shelter recently received three grants from the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation for general support and to offset rising utility costs.
MATS received a $30,000 grant from the foundation’s Community Grants Unrestricted Single Stage program, to be paid over a period of three years. In addition, MATS received a $500 grant from the Fry Family Charitable Fund, one of the foundation’s donor-advised funds. A third grant of $2,000 from the Robert and Mary Cormack Fund, a donor-advised fund, is earmarked to offset rising utility costs. These grants will help the organization, which receives no state or federal money, continue its mission of providing transitional housing to people experiencing homelessness in the Monadnock region.
MATS has recently expanded its services to include a second apartment building in Peterborough, and these three grants will help the organization continue to assist people in transition during the current housing crisis. The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation is New Hampshire’s statewide community foundation. For information, visit nhcf.org or call 603-225-6641.
