The Monadnock Center for History and Culture, 19 Grove St., Peterborough, will host a Lunch & Learn program Thursday, Dec. 12, at noon. The event will feature a lunch and an illustrated talk on the history of holiday cards and greetings.

The talk will explore the origins of seasonal greetings, including how early Christmas cards, first introduced 175 years ago, helped popularize the symbols and imagery associated with Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s celebrations.

The lunch menu includes wrap sandwiches, salad, chips, a pickle and a sweet item. Tickets are $18, or $15 for Monadnock Center members, and must be purchased in advance. Tickets are not available at the door.

To purchase tickets, visit monadnockcenter.org or call 603-924-3235.
