Monadnock Community Hospital has established the Patricia Boyd Nursing Scholarship, honoring the late Patricia Boyd and supporting hospital employees advancing their nursing education.

The scholarship is funded by a $75,000 memorial gift from Bob Boyd and a $25,000 annual donation from an anonymous supporter. It provides financial assistance to MCH employees pursuing certifications as licensed practical nurses, registered nurses and advanced practice registered nurses.

In 2024, MCH awarded $52,500 to 13 recipients: Calvin Seppala, Emily Holman, Amanda Pallan, Zoe Crowley, Mackenzie Ledger, Dakota Hines, Jenny Ruiz, Jerrica Taylor, Chelsea Milke, Arianah Blanchard, Morgan Bemont, Brianna Blake and Erika Lampinen.

Bob Boyd’s inspiration for the scholarship comes from a personal experience.

“In 1968, after a serious car accident, my family was cared for by nurses who helped us recover physically and lifted our spirits during a difficult time. Their compassion left a lasting impression,” stated Boyd.

Patricia Boyd’s career as MCH medical staff coordinator and her involvement in organizations like the Peterborough Players, Home Healthcare, Hospice and Community Services and Monadnock Community Early Learning Center reflected her passion for service and education. Bob Boyd established the scholarship to continue her legacy.

“Nurses do the heavy lifting, providing crucial care and emotional support. I wanted to help nurses and nursing students, and I hope others will join me in supporting their growth,” he stated.

The scholarship is part of MCH’s mission to promote professional development and high-quality care.
