After a recent renovation, Monadnock Community Hospital has reopened its Window Shop, which has been serving the hospital since its establishment in 1969.
The celebration of the shop’s reopening featured treats and door prizes, and was an opportunity for hospital volunteers to rejoice in the completion of the project.
“I really missed working in the gift shop while the space was being renovated. Being a volunteer here is incredibly fulfilling and I truly look forward to coming in every day,” stated longtime volunteer Nancy Speeney.
Donations from the shop have facilitated improvement projects, including the implementation of an electronic medication dispensing tracking program, the establishment of the SIM LAB for comprehensive training of staff and local EMTs, the provision of oversized gurneys for the operating room and multiple enhancements to the birthing suite.
During the pandemic, the Window Shop pivoted its focus to support MCH’s employees. A portion of the proceeds was redirected toward morale-boosting projects such as homemade-dinner raffles and various initiatives aimed at providing support to the hospital staff.
Other projects also include the tradition of donating approximately 300 onesie T-shirts to babies born at MCH each year for almost two decades.
At present, 22 volunteers run the Window Shop.
“I am so grateful to each and every one of our amazing volunteers. We have an exceptional group helping to fulfill our mission of supporting the organization. I could not be more excited for our new chapter,” stated Toni Gildone, longtime Window Shop manager.
