Henry Walters of Monadnock Falconry gave New Ipswich residents a chance to meet some birds of prey during a talk at the Boynton Middle School athletic field on Saturday.

Walters displayed two live birds during the talk, including Pete, a great horned owl who was rescued as an owlet when his nest collapsed after a storm, and Mahood, a Harris’s hawk who was bred in captivity.

Attending children had the opportunity to don a falconry glove and have Mahood fly to them in search of a piece of quail meat, after learning some facts about the birds, their habitat, how they hunt and what makes them unique.
