Monadnock Music announces season

Monadnock Music has announced its 51st season schedule for summer performances.

The Peterborough Town House Concerts will open on Saturday, July 16, with “Music for Martha,” as Monadnock Music continues its exploration of music written for iconic dancer choreographer Martha Graham. Artistic Director Gil Rose will lead the Boston Modern Orchestra Project in works by Gian Carlo Menotti, Carlos Surinach and William Schuman.

“A Concert in Honor of Phyllis Curtin” will be the theme for the program on Saturday, July 23. Baritone Stephen Salters and pianist Linda Osborn will be featured with works including America Music of Michael Ching, George Gershwin and Cole Porter as well as Portuguese and Spanish songs plus several surprises.

For Sunday, July 31, at 3 p.m., a concert titled “The New England Psalm,” an exploration of New England psalm singing tradition and a world premier based on Native American music, will be presented with the Harvard Summer Chorus and the Boston Modern Orchestra Project led by Conductor Andrew Clark. The program will feature music by Ross Lee Finney, Carson Cooman and traditional psalm singing.

The final Town House concert on Saturday, Aug. 13, will continue the cycle “Complete Beethoven Symphonies: Year 2” with a performance of Symphony No. 4 in B-flat major and Symphony No. 7 in A major by the Monadnock Music Festival Orchestra conducted by Gil Rose.

All Saturday performances will begin at 7:30 p.m.
