Monadnock Music kicks off Saturday

Monadnock Music will kick off their summer season with music written for dancer-choreographer Martha Graham with a concert at the Peterborough Town House on Saturday, July 16, at 8 p.m.

Artistic Director and Conductor Gil Rose will lead the Boston Modern Orchestra Project playing a program of works by 20th century composers. The selected works are “Errand Into the Maze,” 1947, by Gian Carlo Menotti, “Embattled Garden,” 1958, by Carlos Surinach, and “The Witch of Endor,” 1965, by William Schuman.

Before the performance, members and volunteers are invited to a appreciation party at 6 p.m. at the Town House. Anyone who is not a member and would like to be is invited to sign up and contribute. The contributions to the festival by all members are appreciated.

The Monandock Music Piano Trio will perform the first village concert of the season at the Congregation Ahavas Achim in Keene on Sunday, July 17, at 3 p.m. Vivian Choi, piano, Rafael Popper-Keizer, cello, and Sarita Kwok, violin, will perform “The Cresset Stone” by Hilary Tann, “Vitebsk: Study on a Jewish Theme” by Aaron Copland, “Duo for Violin and Cello” by Erwin Schulhoff, and “Trio in e minor (Dumky)” by Antonin Dvorak.

This concert is open to the public. Admission is by voluntary donation.

Tickets for the Peterborough Town House series are $30 each with season passes at $90. Student tickets are $10.
