Music on Norway Pond presents American folk

Philip Stoddard and collaborative pianist Katelan Tran Terrell, who coaches at the Metropolitan Opera, will present American folk songs in new arrangements by Steven Mark Kohn for Music on Norway Pond Sunday, Nov. 13, at 4 p.m. at Hancock’s First Congregational Church..

An award-winning lyric baritone, Stoddard is a graduate of both The Juilliard School’s drama division and Institute for Vocal Arts, the only artist in school history to attend two different divisions. He is a winner of the international LotteLenya Vocal Competition presented by the Kurt Weill Foundation.

Terrell has been a member of the music staff at the Metropolitan Opera since 2019. A graduate of the Eastman School of Music and Julliard, she has coached for several seasons at the Chautauqua Institution and, since 2020, at the Opera Academy of the Polish National Opera.

Kohn has written music for films on ABC, PBS and The Disney Channel, commercials for Wheaties, BP, Arby’s and others, industrial shows for Volvo, Matrix and GTE, guided imagery CDs (The Health Journey’s catalog), art songs, four musicals and two operas.

Tickets are available at and at the door for $25. Students are free.
