Tenor Omar Najmi will be presenting a vocal recital on June 22 at 4 p.m. as part of the Muusic 4UU concert series at the Peterborough Unitarian Universalist Sanctuary, 25 Main St.
Najmi and his accompanist, Brendon Shapiro, will offer a program of art song, including original works by Najmi, who splits his time between composition and performance as an operatic tenor. He recently made his international debut with the Bulgaria’s State Opera Rousse, creating the title role in Joseph Summer’s “Hamlet.” Najmi has a longstanding relationship with the Boston Lyric Opera, where he began his professional career as an Emerging Artist in 2013. He has performed in over 15 productions with the company, and appeared with opera companies nationwide.
Najmi was named Boston Lyric Opera's first Emerging Composer in the 2020-2021 season. His catalog of compositions includes four operas, six song cycles and two works for chorus.
Muusic 4UU is a concert series dedicated to bringing live music to the Monadnock region. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. for a 4 p.m. start time. Admission is open to the public with a suggested $15 donation. The facility is accessible for people in wheelchairs through a rear entrance.
