The Sharon Arts Center has been sold after several years on the market.

The center, previously owned by New England College, has been closed since 2019. The New Hampshire Art Institute, which merged with New England College in 2012, absorbing the center, closed several underutilized properties, including Sharon Arts. The center had been open as a community arts institution for 73 years.

The property has been purchased by Anthony Sabatino, of Sabatino Realty Group and Sabatino’s Restaurants. Sabatino declined an interview with the Ledger-Transcript at this time, saying only that he has no firm plans for the property yet. Sabatino met with the Sharon Select Board on April 19, where he expressed an intention to use the building for educational and office space, with the possibility of renting the house on the property as a residential use.

According to Sharon Select Board minutes from the April 19 meeting, Sabatino told the board he would like to keep the property as some kind of school, and said the residence needs some rehabilitation.

The property sits on a rural residential zone, and any business operating there would be subject to town approvals, but the house could be used for a residential purpose, the board told Sabatino.
