Jaffrey police have recovered a firearm from the area where an incident occurred over the weekend.

Investigators in the case are taking steps to identify the owner of the firearm to determine if it had any role in the incident that occurred on Proctor Road on Saturday night, according to Police Chief Bill Oswalt this morning. Oswalt said investigators are confident that there is “no longer a threat of further violence to the neighborhood or community at large.”

The firearm was found with the help of the Jaffrey Fire Department, who pumped out a body of water located along Proctor Road, in the area of where the victim and his truck were found. Police were originally called to the area at 6:45 p.m. after reports of a adult male who was walking unsteadily near a pick up, covered in blood.
