Paula Kay Kerouac taught a painting class in the dining room at the Blue Bear Inn on Wednesday night. The class painted snowy owls using a reference photo of a painting that Kerouac created.

As the students worked on painting in their owls, Kay Kerouac said,“Don’t worry if you’ve got other colors mixed into the white.” She said it adds texture, and “all these colors blend very nicely.”

The bar at the inn was open, and some students sipped glasses of wine and ate plates of cheese and crackers. Piano music played over the speakers in the background. Kay Kerouac said the class reported that they loved the cozy atmosphere of the inn and were able to get lost in their art.

Kay Kerouac is from Bennington and runs Dancing Wind Studio in Hillsborough. She teaches paint classes and had taught two classes at the Blue Bear Inn before Wednesday -- an outside class in June when they painted a row of ducks and a November class where they painted a fox with a tree.

Kay Kerouac teaches all levels of painters and posts about her upcoming classes on her Dancing Wind Studio Facebook page.
