PeterboroughMonadnock Center hosts pastel show

The Monadnock Center for History and Culture, 19 Grove St. in Peterborough, will host the Pastel Society of New Hampshire for its 19th annual members exhibition opening Saturday, June 15, at 10 a.m.

The exhibition will run through Friday, July 26, and is open Wednesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The festivities on opening day include show awards at 11 a.m. judged by Cindy House, master pastelist with the Pastel Society of America. At noon, four artists will hold a “paint around,” in which each artist will begin a painting and then switch places every 15 minutes. This progressive collaboration results in four new works each painted by the four artists. The paintings will be auctioned for the benefit of the Monadnock Center.

Light refreshments will be served. Admission is free and all are welcome.

The Pastel Society of New Hampshire works to promote the use and appreciation of pastel through workshops, exhibitions and an online member gallery. Information is available at pastelsocietynh.com.
