Mercier Engineering of Antrim, a sole proprietorship headed by Paul D. Mercier Sr., has patents pending on some hydronic heating devices that are expected to improve efficiency in forced hot water heating system circulators.

His brainchild is called the Delta-T Hydronic Heating System.

Instead of heating systems that have zoned circulators, Mercier has created an improvement that allows for one circulator to manage the whole system.

And the preminent company specializing in such circulators, called Delta-T circulators, Taco Comfort Solutions, of Cranston, Rhode Island, has said Mercier’s improvement will drop energy requirements by 80 percent and reduce fuel requirements by up to 15 percent, according to Mercier.

The Delta-T Hydronic Heating System is also less complex than zoned systems, Mercier explained.

Mercier recently detailed the accomplishment in an article published in the Plumbing Engineer trade journal.

“Taco is supporting me,” Mercier said, in the development of the cost-effective product. “I’m almost at the point of having a product – an appliance almost.”

Mercier is a manufacturing process and hydronic system design engineer who has 50 years of experience in the heating business. It’s an industry he grew up in as his parent owned a heating business in Franklin.

“I’ve always had my hands in heating,” he said.
