Peterborough First Friday is May 5

The merchants of Depot Square and downtown Peterborough will celebrate Cinco de Mayo and Mother’s Day during First Friday May 5 from 5 to 7 p.m. and later.

Events include The Apothecary owner Gloria Shkolnik offering a free gift with a purchase of $50, along with free refreshments.

Ava Marie's Chocolates and Ice Cream will be offering special ice cream tacos and free sample of its house fudge at its new location at 19 Wilton Road, Suite 10.

At the Greater Keene & Peterborough Chamber, newly renamed the Greater Monadnock Collaborative: Regional Chamber of Commerce, at 45 Main St., children can join the Peterborough Recreation Department on the lawn for games. Attendees can also view the art exhibit from photographer Steve Lipofsky and meander through the offices and conference room.

Eve Pierce will be performing outside of Baker’s Station from 5 to 7 p.m. Pierce is a singer-songwriter who splits her time between writing and performing her original songs, fronting for Celtic rock band Waking Finnegan and creating folk cabarets with her friend/musician Gordon Peery. Her show will include songs in many style, including some Mexican songs.

People can dance with the Monadnock Mavericks line dances from 6 to 6:30 p.m. The Monadnock Mavericks showcase dances to a variety of music genres, including country, Celtic and pop. They have performed at the Big E, Keene Pumpkin Festival and Children and the Arts. The shows include a demonstration of team dances, and an audience teach-and-dance segment.
