PeterboroughFirst Friday includes tree-lighting

Downtown Peterborough merchants will hold a First Friday holiday shopping event Friday, Dec. 6, from 5 to 7 p.m.

The Greater Keene & Peterborough Chamber will host the annual tree-lighting at Putnam Park at 6 p.m., with carolers on-site. Santa will greet visitors and offer cookies and cocoa at the Town House from 5 to 7 p.m.

The Peterborough Town Library will feature the Holiday Trees of Peterborough, with an opening reception for The Prism Painters gallery exhibit showcasing works by local artists.

Shoppers can visit local businesses offering gifts such as books, art supplies, chocolates, jewelry and pet items. Twelve Pine will host a free wine tasting starting at 4 p.m. and live music by guitarist Larry Gilbert from 5 to 6 p.m. Restaurants will be open for dine-in or takeout.

Free parking and access for people with disabilities are available.
