Players clean up at Theatre Awards

Peterborough Players Artistic Director Gus Kaikkonen pulled a double last weekend at the 16th annual New Hampshire Theatre Awards, picking up two Best Director wins. Kaikkonen was named Best Director of a Professional Drama/Comedy Production for “The Doctor’s Dilemma” and Best Director of a Professional Musical Production for “The Producers.”

“The Producers” earned a few other wins as well; Bill Burns was honored for Best Choreography in a Professional Production, Sam Fleming for Best Costume Design in a Professional Production, Leon Axt for Best Supporting Actor in a Professional Musical Production.

The Players received 19 nominations in all.

Andy’s Summer Playhouse didn’t come away with any first-place wins to show for its 14 noms, but they did have a few finalists who placed in the top three.

“Melissa, So Far” garnered three finalists: Jess Putney for Best Actor in a Youth Production; Dylan Phillips for Best Supporting Actor in a Youth Production, and Sanaya Forbes for Best Scenic Design in a Community Production.Greta Topping was a finalist for Best Supporting Actress in a Youth Production for “Posted!”
