No one was injured in a vehicle fire on Granite Street in Peterborough on Wednesday afternoon, but the vehicle was a total loss.
Angela Hutchinson, 37, of Greenfield was traveling north on Granite Street around 1:50 p.m. when her 2004 GMC Envoy caught on fire, Peterborough Police Chief Scott Guinard said.
Peterborough Deputy Fire Chief Brian Wall said the cause of the fire is currently unknown, though, he believes it was some type of mechanical issue since the vehicle was moving when it caught fire.
The fire was put out in about ten minutes, Wall said, though the vehicle was “totaled” as the fire made its way into the passenger compartment. Police and fire cleared the scene at about 3 p.m. after a tow truck arrived. The road was closed while firefighters put out the fire.
