A 31-year-old Peterborough resident was rescued Monday morning after having gone missing the night before.
According to New Hampshire Fish and Game Lt. Bill Boudreau, the man had last been seen Sunday about 8 p.m. on Cheney Avenue as he headed out to go hiking.
Boudreau said a family member called the Peterborough Police Department at approximately 8:15 p.m., and officers searched the road and on the Cranberry Meadow Pond Trail before calling Fish and Game at approximately 11:30 p.m.
Fish and Game officials picked up the search at 6 a.m. Monday, with four K-9 teams and a drone. Boudreau said the man was eventually found at 10:20 a.m. on Mountain Road in Greenfield at the Wapack Trail head.
Boudreau said the man asked a passing hiker to call 911, and Wilton Ambulance transported him to Monadnock Community Hospital for hypothermia. Greenfield Fire Department also responded.
“He was pretty cold,” Boudreau said. “He was very cold.”
