Emergency responders, including Keene’s SWAT team and the Monadnock Special Response Team, took an armed man into custody after a short standoff at a home on Hunt Road in Peterborough Thursday morning.

Daniel Laguerre Jr., 35, of Peterborough was arrested and charged with felony second-degree assault, felony criminal restraint, misdemeanor stalking, two counts of misdemeanor domestic violence – simple assault  and misdemeanor breach-of-bail conditions.

The Peterborough Police Department received a report around 11 p.m. Wednesday evening that Laguerre had allegedly committed assault and that he was armed with a handgun and threatening to use it against the police, according to a press release issued Thursday afternoon.

On Thursday morning, Peterborough police called in Keene’s SWAT team, which came in riding the city’s Bearcat armored response vehicle, as well as the Monadnock Special Response Team,  the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department and Peterborough Ambulance, all of whom descended upon a home on Hunt Road in Peterborough just before 11 a.m., blocking off Kemp Road and Hunt Road to through traffic for about half an hour.

After a short dialogue, Laguerre was taken into custody without further incident; no shots were fired by Laguerre or law enforcement.

Laguerre was being held at Valley Street Jail in Manchester until his arraignment in Hillsborough County Superior Court on Friday, when Judge N. William Delker ordered him held in pre ventive detention. His next court date is Oct. 19.
