A Peterborough resident was hospitalized with a knee injury after a crash at the intersection with Powers Bridge Road and Route 101 Thursday afternoon, Police Chief Scott Guinard said.
At 2:24 p.m., a 2008 Honda Element driven by Nancy Purinton, 77, of Peterborough, was crossing Route 101 from Powers Bridge Road to Pine Street while a tractor trailer was stopped in the westbound lane of 101, waiting to turn left onto Powers Bridge Road, Guinard said. At that point, a 2008 Ford Explorer driven by Katelyn Nelson, 35, of Townsend, Massachusetts, passed the tractor trailer on the right and Purinton’s vehicle collided into the front of Nelson’s, he said. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage and were towed from the scene, and Purinton was transported to Monadnock Community Hospital to be checked for a knee injury.
