The DubHub held a story time with a piglet and a Valentine-making event on Saturday.

Donna Watterson, who runs Amazing Grace Animal Sanctuary in Sullivan with her husband Daryl, sat on a tarp with her new pig, Archie, who was recently found abandoned in a snowbank on Arch Street in Keene. She read a book her friend had written about the two married pigs at the sanctuary, Gronk and Henrietta.

“Instead of throwing rice at the wedding, we threw Cheerios, because they love Cheerios,” she said, “They were all having so much fun. It was a beautiful day.”

Archie snorted around the tarp and ate pieces of apples.

Ruth Blais Thompson, a board member of the DubHub, said they feel honored to be the first people to meet Archie and they are thinking of ways to help him, such as creating a GoFundMe page. Amazing Grace Animal Sanctuary is full, so Watterson said they will likely have to find a new home for Archie, but they are already quite attached to the little pig.

After the story, chldren, parents and community members decorated Valentines with sparkles and glitter and hearts. After the children were done, they brought their cards over to Archie.
