Pinch me, I’m dreaming

It's no exaggeration that nearly every day my husband, Mark, and I pinch ourselves to be sure we're not dreaming that we get to live here in Peterborough.

Last night at the Peterborough Resident Meet and Greet event, the third since we started the Peterborough Welcome Team, I met several new residents who expressed feeling exactly the same way.

If you've lived in the area all your life, you might take for granted what those of us who are "from away" value in "Our Town": friendly intelligent people, an engaged citizenry, a beautiful and well-loved environment, a value on education, arts, and creativity; great restaurants and shops, and this is just the short-list.

I’d like to thank all of those who support the Peterborough Welcome Team's efforts: the Town EDA and Select Board, the more than 50 businesses and organizations who've added their information and goodies in the welcome baskets and contributed door prizes, the Monadnock Center for History and Culture, Roy's Market and People's United Bank for the hall and refreshments, the Peterborough Town Library for providing children's activities, all of the long-term residents who showed up to meet and greet new residents, and the volunteers who make welcome visits and plan the events. Together, we make Peterborough the warm, welcoming community that we are proud to call home.

Together, we are the Peterborough Welcome Team!
