Jaffrey-Rindge district pre-K lottery open

The Jaffrey-Rindge School District has begun its preschool lottery program for the 2017-18 school year.

Between Feb. 1 and March 31, interested families can apply for the lottery program to enroll their children in the district’s preschool program, which serves 3- and 4-year-olds.

The Jaffrey-Rindge Inclusive Preschool (JRIP) has an equal number of slots for typically developing children and children with developmental delays (preschoolers with an IEP).

Since there are limited spaces available, a lottery is held every February through March to fill opening slots for the following school year.

JRIP offers both morning and afternoon sessions at both elementary schools in the district, with students being assigned to a school based on their town of residence. Children must be 3 years old by Sept. 30, 2017 to be eligible.

Tuition of $750 to $1,000 per year is charged for typically developing children, with free or reduced tuition available to families who qualify.

To sign up for the lottery, a child’s parent or legal guardian should call Kim Cloutier, the preschool coordinator. She can be reached at 532-8100 ext. 233. For information on having your child screened for developmental delays, call the preschool coordinator.
