Project Shakespeare is taking applications from students 5 to 18 years old for its upcoming 2023 summer season that begins June 24 and runs through Aug. 6.

Auditions are not required and students need not be experienced. All interested candidates should be self-motivated and engaged students. Project Shakespeare promotes creativity, compassion and an examination of that which makes people human.

This summer’s Project Shakespeare productions are:

-- “PS Too! Shakespeare Magic and Mayhem” for ages 5 to 13. Students will explore the fundamentals of Shakespeare’s language in a series of scenes from Shakespeare’s popular plays, including “Macbeth,” “Twelfth Night” and “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Tuition is $100.

-- “As You Like It” for ages 7 to 18.  “All the world’s a stage” as young lords and ladies cast off their courtly conventions to journey to the enchanted Forest of Arden. Cross-dressing heroines and heroes meet, embracing their imagination, releasing their fears and surrendering to love. Tuition is $300.  Tuition for PS Too! students participating in both shows is $200.

In addition to performances, all students will participate in a series of workshops that will include “Building a Character,” “Shakespeare’s Language” and “Stage Combat.”

Scholarships are available and rewarded based on the merit of need. No student will be denied participation due to financial restrictions.

Celebrating its 29th summer season, Project Shakespeare engages and young theater artists through the discovery
and exploration of classic texts using voice, movement and stagecraft.
