Heather McKernan

Extension: 222

Heather McKernan has been publisher of the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript since 1995. She has a degree in writing from St. Lawrence University and an MBA and Master's in journalism from Syracuse University. Responsible for all aspects of the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript's operations, she consults with the newsroom editors and oversees business operations including advertising, circulation and accounting. She has worked for newspapers in upstate New York and North Carolina and joined the Concord Monitor in 1989 as human resources manager and later became controller. She is active in several community organizations and is on the board for the Monadnock Center for History and Culture. She also has served on the boards of the The River Center, The Family Center, the Marlin Fitzwater Center for Communication at Franklin Pierce University, the Greater Peterborough Chamber of Commerce and the Community Prevention Coalition. Heather lives in Peterborough where she enjoys running and a variety of outdoor activities.


Ben Conant

Ben Conant joined the Ledger-Transcript staff as an editor in 2013. A member of ConVal's class of 2000, Conant graduated from the journalism program at Keene State College in 2010. Prior to joining the Ledger-Transcript, Conant worked at the Concord Monitor for three years; he was the editor of the Monitor's free alt-weekly newspaper, the Concord Insider. In 2019, Conant was named as the New Hampshire Press Association's Photographer of the Year. He moved to Peterborough in 1993 and has lived in or around the Monadnock region ever since. He currently lives on a farm in Peterborough.

Ashley Saari

Ashley Saari started with the Ledger-Transcript as a reporter in November 2011. A graduate of Mascenic Regional High School, she graduated from Franklin Pierce University with bachelor degrees in English and mass communication and Southern New Hampshire University with a Master's degree in creative writing. She participated in the print newspaper, The Pierce Arrow, and the online newspaper, The Exchange, while in college, as well as Franklin Pierce's two literary magazines. She was born and raised in New Ipswich, and currently lives in Rindge.

Laura joined the advertising team at the Ledger-Transcript in October, 2019. She brings a unique blend of experience to the team, all involving a focus on relationships and helping people reach their potential. Her experiences include 12 years of prior sales experience, running her own business for eight years, organizing and orchestrating large scale fundraisers for our deployed military, and coordinating a district-wide program intended to help children focus on life instead of screen time, to name a few. As a Marketing Consultant, she thoroughly enjoys working with and finding growth solutions for the people and businesses of Jaffrey, Rindge, Fitzwilliam, and northern Massachusetts through print and digital advertising.

Personally, Laura is an intuitive Reiki Master, loves yoga and walking, and is passionate about inspirational writing. With her strong appreciation for nature, she is presently working on combining that love with an eye for beauty through photography. Laura resides in the Monadnock Region.

Stacy Hannings

Stacy Hannings joined the Ledger-Transcript in October 2019. A graduate of ConVal High School, Stacy received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Colby-Sawyer College with concentrations in both photography and sculpture. Stacy worked for nearly 10 years at Rosaly’s Garden in Peterborough, where she managed the farmstand and the you-pick flowers and herbs. She was born and raised in Greenfield, and currently lives in Peterborough.
