Runners in the annual Shin Splints for Bryce 5K in Rindge raised more than $7,000 for families affected by addiction Saturday.

The race is organized annually in the memory of Bryce Olson of Rindge, who died of an overdose in July of 2018. At the time of his death, he was training to run a 10K with his sister.

This year, the funds raised will be going to two local families with children who have lost a parent to overdose. The final tally had not been made on Saturday, but race signups and donations as of the race start had reached at least $7,000, according to race organizer and Bryce’s mother, Sandra Olson.
