Deirdre Riley has been named general manager of Crotched Mountain, effective Nov. 25. Riley brings nearly 25 years of experience in the ski industry, most recently serving as senior mountain operations manager at Attitash Mountain.
Riley began her career in 2000 as a mountain services manager at Stowe Mountain Resort. She later worked in leadership roles at Canyons and Park City, overseeing lift operations. In 2018, she joined Crested Butte as senior manager of health and safety before moving to Attitash in 2020.
“Deirdre brings a depth of experience to her new role as general manager of Crotched Mountain,” stated Bruce Schmidt, Okemo vice president and general manager, who oversees Crotched Mountain and Mount Sunapee. “She has a strong record of building effective teams, developing strategic plans, and fostering connections with the community. We look forward to her contributions at Crotched.”
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Riley helped maintain community engagement at Attitash by producing video updates highlighting mountain projects and operations.
Riley oversaw lift upgrades at Attitash that included replacing the Summit Triple with the Mountaineer and the Double Double with the Progression Quad. She also led snowmaking improvements that expanded access to upper mountain terrain, including Wilfred’s Gwam, Spillway and Tightrope.
“My time at Attitash has been meaningful,” Riley stated. “I appreciate the team, our guests and the community for their support. I am eager to join the Crotched Mountain team and learn more about its unique offerings, including day-to-night skiing, Midnight Madness and the community that calls this mountain home.”
