The Rindge Swap Shop is now open one day a week after being closed for more than a year due to COVID-19.
The Swap Shop, located at the Rindge Transfer Station, is a place for still-good items can be made for residents to donate or claim.
The shop has been closed since March of 2020, when many non-essential businesses and town functions shut down, and has remained closed since, Town Administrator Sara Gravell.
“We know there is a need for this, both for people to drop off items, and certainly to go through and get items from there,” Gravell said. “That has always been an understanding.”
The town will continue to reevaluate the shop’s hours based on the results of the limited opening.
However, the Swap Shop will only be open on a limited basis, on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., rather than being open during all Transfer Station hours, Gravell said.
“(Department of Public Works Director Mike Cloutier) wants to see how things go on a limited basis first,” Gravell said. The town has not put strict COVID-19 guidelines on the use of the shop, such as requiring masks, beyond the current state best practices guidelines.
