Riverfest in Jaffrey returns this Saturday, with vendors, raffles, a road race and live music.

After a year off due to COVID-19, the annual downtown festival is back in 2020, with the theme, “Better Together.”

The festival is held on Blake Street and the surrounding area in Jaffrey, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Local vendors and organizations will have stalls to visit, restaurants are offering specials, and there are events throughout the day to attend.

The day begins with the 5K Road Race, sponsored by the Jaffrey Fire Department. The race, in it’s 11th year, is a fundraiser for the Jaffrey Firefighters Company, a volunteer organization of firefighters, their family, and community members who support the Fire Department and purchase equipment not provided by the town’s budget. The race begins at 9 a.m. For more information about the race, visit

Local organizations and businesses will also have displays. On Main Street, the Jaffrey Civic Center will offer face painting. The Jaffrey Woman’s Club has arts and crafts, and free lemonade and iced tea. TD Bank will be displaying art work by local artist Jill Fischman.

The Park Theatre, set to open next week, is offering tours of its newly completed facilities.

The Jaffrey Recreation Department will be offering games for children at the Community Field from noon to 2 p.m.

Jaffrey Climate Initiative will have a booth on Main Street and is collecting for its plastic bag drive. Deposit your plastic bags, and receive a free, reusable bag.

Dr. Bob Goodby will be at the Conservation Committee’s booth, and is scheduled to give a talk about the archeological history of the Contoocook River at 11 a.m. Goodby recently was approved by the Jaffrey Select Board to do an archeological survey in Carey Park, along with Franklin Pierce University students.

From 11:15 a.m. until 1:45 p.m., Bob Jordan will be providing live music on Blake Street.

At the Belletete’s Plaza, from noon to 4 p.m., there will be a car show, sponsored by TEAM Jaffrey, featuring classic and antique cars, 20 years or older. Awards will be presented for Best in Show, People’s Choice and Furthest Traveled. To register, contact TEAM Jaffrey at 532-7168 or
