RockHounds, Lug Nuts, Tin Caps in action

Lug Nuts/RockHounds

On a beautiful night for baseball, the Conval Lug Nuts and Conval RockHounds met Tuesday night in Antrim for Cal Ripken Minors league play.

Kiernan King pitched three innings, striking out four for the Lug Nuts.  His defense backed him up with a strong performance, including a double play started by Kevin Simmons with a fly ball catch and completed by a Justin Borges tag.  Nathan Pimental hit a single, Cody Seigel went 2 for 2 with a RBI triple and a single, and Kiernan King hit a single. The runners were also aggressive on the base paths.  Nathan Pimental pitched the final inning, striking out one, and holding the RockHounds to a single run.  Ryan Seaver collected a single in the final inning.

Kaiden Bateman pitched a strong three innings for the RockHounds, striking out nine. Matthew Palmer and Kaiden Bateman hit singles and Meric Grenier hit a double, with very aggressive base running by the whole team, including Stephen and William Simard, Jack Harris, Hannah Hardwick, and Ryan Tatro. Jason Way Jr. pitched two strong innings, giving up one run and striking out five. Aidan Learn gobbled up a ground ball at short, throwing to second for a force out to end the game.

The RockHounds prevailed 13-6 on strong pitching and aggressive base running.

Lug Nuts/Tin Caps

The ConVal Lugnuts topped the ConVal Tin Caps 17-3 in Cal Ripken Minor Leauge play on Saturday in Temple.

It was a great team effort by the Lugnuts as all members contributed. Nate Pimental led the offense with three hits and three runs. Stephen Gnibus, Kevin Simmons, and Juliana O'Mahony also had big hits. Pimental and Cody Seigel pitched well for the Lugnuts. Pimental pitched 3 innings of no-hit ball striking out nine while Seigel struck out six in his 2 innings of work.

Brady Carpentiere started for the Tin Caps and notched five strikeouts. Brodie Desmarais and Nolan Darowski also pitched for the Tin Caps and got some big outs against some tough hitters. Sylas Olensky was great behind the plate and his hustle resulted in two put outs at home. Avery Steere also caught and was involved in a put out at home.
