Two youths were involved in a rollover crash on Highbridge Road in New Ipswich on Monday afternoon, closing the road for more than an hour.

Police and fire responded to the scene at 2:42 p.m. for a report that a Ford Bronco with two occupants that had been traveling north from Greenville into New Ipswich veered off the roadway, striking a wooden guardrail post and a telephone pole before rolling down the embankment and landing on its roof.

According to Master Patrolman Weston Vollheim, the two occupants of the vehicle, both minors, were able to leave the car under their own power and were awaiting emergency services on the side of the road when they arrived. One of the occupants was taken by Souhegan Valley Ambulance to the hospital to be checked, but Vollheim said there were no life-threatening injuries reported.

Though the curve at that point on Highbridge Road is not sharp, according to Fire Chief Meredith Lund, there have been several accidents in the vicinity over the years.

“This is not a large curve, but there are a lot of them here,” Lund said.

The road was closed until about 4 p.m. while the vehicle was removed from the   em bankment and Eversource assessed the pole, which will have to be replaced.
